Orpheon of Salies
TO THE CARD
AL CARTERO is the pen name and anagram of Léonce Lacoarret (1861 - 1923), a specialist doctor based in Toulouse but whose maternal family, with whom he spent most of his childhood, was from Salies. This is certainly the reason why he devoted an infinite love to Salies de Béarn and the Béarnese language. This language is the one in which he wrote all his work, many songs ( Lous piquetalos , la cinte, ...) in which he brings to life the "little people" of Salies of his time, but also stories, novels and plays, in particular " Chuquete " written in 1922 which would be his greatest success.
These few lines explain why in 2023 the Orphéon, with the help of other associations, will pay tribute to this great poet whose name is present in many places in the city of salt.
